The Layers Panel in Illustrator is used to edit, list, and organize the objects in a particular document. On its own, the layers panel assigns different colors to each layer. The color that is assigned to a specific layer is helpful to identifying the objects on the document.

The design was created using clipping masks in the name of the business. An image of a flower was used as the background and only the opacity was changed in the image. The contact information and slogan were typed using the type tool and the font color was changed.

Transformations are defined as changing an object’s size, shape or position on the artboard when using Illustrator. The point of origin is the selected object’s center point. However, this point can be changed. Objects can be transformed in many different ways such as; clicking and dragging an object anywhere on the artboard, and also by double-clicking the transform tool and entering values into the transform dialog box that opens after you have double-clicked the transform tool.

The story characters were made in Illustrator. They were formed by sketching the designs and then the designs were scanned into the computer. They were then traced using the pen tool. They were formed using many different shapes. The sketches were seperated into individual pieces and then placed together. When the designs were completed, they were then grouped together.

This logo has many different uses of color yet they all flow with one another. The overall design uses many different shapes as well. And finally, the gradient used for the business name incoorporates the differnt colors in the design very well.

Illustrator uses the word “attributes” to what characteristics have been applied to an object. Font, leading, and horizontal scale are known as typographic attributes. Stroke color, fill color, and stroke weight are examples of artistic attributes. The tool that is most useful for applying attributes is the eyedropper tool..

Drop Shadows

Applying a drop shadow behind text is a great way to add dimension. It is also a very effective way to distinguish the text from all of the other objects you may have or use.  Copying the text, pasting the copy behind the original illustration, and using the keyboard arrows to move it so that it is offset from the original copy is all that is necessary to applying a drop shadow. It is a very simple process but it is a very effective technique in Illustrator.

Color is very important when working with design. The colors you choose to incorporate into a design, first of all, have to flow together. And second of all, they must capture attention. And when designing several different things for one specific company and/or business, the colors and designs you choose to use should be repetitive in all the designs you create.
